Micromax Launches First-Ever Google-Certified Android Television Staring Rs 51,990

Indian electronics brand Micromax has extended its TV line-up with the launch of its first-ever Google- certified Android televisions. Micromax unveiled two variants of its Android TV — one a 49-inch display model while the other is 55-inch. The 49-inch television gets a price tag of Rs 51,990 while the 55-inch model is priced at Rs 61,990. A company statement said that the Micromax Android TV will be available in stores across India from November.

As the company stated, the Google-certification ensures that users are able to access Google PlayStore, Games, Movies, and Music. Additionally, both the TVs feature built-in Chromecast and Google Assistant with voice-enabled search. They run on Google’s Android 8.0 Oreo operating system.

In terms of display, both TVs sport a 4K UHD screen with HDR 10 and pack Dolby and DTS certification for sound. The company claims that “vivid display” is going to be a key highlight of these smart televisions. Both TVs are armed with two 12W speakers and are powered by a quad-core A53 processor. Micromax has added 2.5GB DDR3 RAM and 16GB EMMC flash ROM to these televisions. The company claims that both the Android TVs are eco-energy efficient with low-power consumption. Connectivity options include MHL Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Speaking at the launch of these new TVs, Micromax Informatics director Rohan Agarwal said,

“Today, with the launch of our first-ever Google-certified televisions, we have taken a step further in providing our consumers a memorable and stunning picture-quality experience and wide array of options with Google’s Play Store. The new range targets the consumers who want a larger than life experience and desire to access smart android content on a bigger, sharper, and crystal clear screen. We are committed to grow this category further and consolidating our position in the television segment in India.”

Earlier this year, Micromax was in the news for launch of two new Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition) smartphones Bharat 5 Infinity Edition and Bharat 4 Diwali Edition priced at Rs. 5,899 and Rs. 4,249 respectively.
